Buttons, Buttons, and more Buttons!!

This is the add-on sketch this week over at Sketchsupport and I decided to make mine a LO.  This is what I have this week...
"Enjoy the Little Things..." by Amy Roller
Supplies - Patterned paper: Stampin Up!; Cardstock: Coordinations, Stampin Up!; Buttons: Papertrey Ink, unknown, Scrapbook Generation; Felt Leaves: Stampin Up!; Thread, Sticker Embellishments, Felt: Papertrey Ink; Embossing Folder: Provo Craft, sanding block

I decided I wanted to make a LO with this add-on, so I made the tree bigger to fit the area. To start off the page, I hand cut a tree top shape out of felt. Then I used different sizes and colors of buttons to fill the shape. I also added felt leaves and little red flower buttons. I used a white lined button in the center of the tree to look like a nest then added a bird cut from the patterned paper.
For the trunk of the tree, I ran cardstock through an embossing folder to add texture and then sanded it down. It is different colors on each side, so that when you sand it you see both colors. I just cut it into a trunk shape.

The paper had an existing power line that the birds sat on and I stitched along it to add more detail. I decided to carry out the button theme and also made a sun out of buttons to help fill the page.

I cut a sticker sentiment into strips and added it to the top of the page.

For the bottom of the page, I hand cut "hills" out of patterned papers and then stitched along each one to help them standout.

I then stitched stems for flowers that were also made out of two stacked purple buttons along the bottom of the page.

Last I added a matted photo with 2 sentiment stickers. I love how it turned out! Thanks for stopping by!

2 page week and a blog hop winner!!

Ok this week is 2 pager week at Sketchsupport. This is the LO I made:

Supplies - Cardstock: Close To My Heart, Stampin UP!, Bazzill; Patterned paper: Scenic Route, We R Memory Keepers; Letters: American Crafts; Stamps: Close To My Heart, Stampin Up!, unknown; BBQ grill: Hobby Lobby; Brads: Making Memories, Stampin Up!; Thread

I stuck fairly close to the sketch as far as the papers go. I did change the picture sizes to fit what I had and wanted to make sure I didn't have to leave out any important ones. I added fireworks to the background paper using a stamp, (which is actually a flower stamp!) I had a few extra photos so I moved my title down the side instead of above the picture on the left.
I also popped several photos up along the layout to emphasize several of them.

For the banner, I hand stamped it and cut it out. Then I stuck them down and stitched them together. I also added several hand stamped and hand-cut firework bursts across the page in place of the embellishments shown on the sketch.

On the right side, I added a BBQ grill embellishment that I bought at a craft store. I added a few brads to it for more detail. Then I topped it off with a handmade hamburger. The tutorial to make it is from my friend, Pam Todd of splitcoaststampers. It is made out of cardstock, and punches.
To see what the rest of the team does with it go on over to sketchsupport.

Last but not least, the winner of a Sketches For Scrapbooking Idea Book is:
(I will contact you today to get your volume choice and shipping info!)  Congrats!!!!

National Scrapbook Month and a blog hop!

Whoo hoo..it's National Scrapbooking Month and all of us at Sketchsupport are celebrating by having another blog hop!  So if you are just checking in, make sure you start at Sketchsupport and follow the blog list from there to get all the giveaway details!  For those already following, you probably got to me by way of Jennifer! We are doing a scavenger hunt this time around.  So be sure to leave comments on each blog and at sketchsupport to be eligible for the giveaways!

This is the sketch we used to make all our layouts:

And here is what I came up with:
I had a lot of fun making this one!  I followed the sketch but widened some of the papers to accommodate my photos.  Because I had more pictures than the sketch, I cropped them down to make them fit.  I liked the movement of the swirls on the sketch but wanted to make it fit my theme, so I made a bike frame and tire and then added stickers behind to show movement.

I added several extra embellishments to help fill some of the blank space at the bottom.  I also decided to leave off the stitching around the edges because I thought it might be a little to much with everything else.

I ended up with 2 larger title areas because I really liked the "wheels" title but it wouldn't fit on the left page.

The question  I ask you is: "Why do you scrapbook?"
For me I first started scrapbooking as a hobby for me.  It is now 97% for my kids, 2% for others and 1% for me.  I love being able to leave something for my babies to have when they get older or even now when they want to remind themselves how much we love them.  It is a way for me to remember those sweet moments I may otherwise forget, it helps me relax, and is a great way to spend time with friends.  I truly don't know what I would do without this creative outlet.  Luckily for me, my boys are quite the little artists themselves and love to "create" with me.  I love seeing the pride they take in their work and being able to see them grow in other ways than just the physical aspect of life.

Thanks to Scrapbook Generation I am giving away a sketchbook to one lucky person who comments here before midnight Sunday May 8th! Volume choice is yours, so check back to see if you have won and then leave your contact info for me to find out how to get your goodies to you!

Next up in the line-up is Melissa Elsner and you can find her here.
